There is no single price for all pallet freight. To find out how much it costs to ship a pallet, start with its collection point, destination and the details of the complete shipment.
Pallet shipping cost depends on more than the pallet type
The origin and destination affect the route and the services available. The carrier, service and delivery method also matter. Two pallets of the same size can therefore have different shipping costs. See what to consider when you send pallets abroad.
Dimensions and weight affect handling and the space the shipment occupies. Pricing methods can vary between services. Compare options for your actual shipment rather than treating a previous quote as a general price list.
Height, overhang and stackability affect space requirements
The pallet footprint does not describe the whole load. Tall goods and goods extending beyond the pallet edges may occupy more space and limit suitable freight options. Measure the outermost points, including packaging. Read more about pallet dimensions and measurement.
Stackability concerns whether other freight can be placed on top under the selected service’s requirements. A flat top alone is not enough: the load and packaging must also withstand the handling involved. If goods cannot be stacked, space requirements and cost may change. Enter this information accurately and check the service requirements.
Delivery addresses and optional services can change the total
Delivery to a residential address, delivery notification and a tail lift requirement may affect the service you need and its cost. A tail lift may be included in one service and optional in another. Check what is included at both collection and delivery.
State whether the business operates from a residential address and what loading and unloading facilities are available. Incorrect booking details or missing options may lead to additional charges.
Pallet weight is not total shipment weight
Total weight includes the goods, pallet and all packaging. Do not enter only the product weight. Ideally, weigh the packed shipment so the booking details match what will actually be transported.
Have these details ready for a quote
- The origin and destination towns, postcodes and countries.
- Whether the addresses are commercial or residential.
- The number of pallets and the total length, width, height and weight of each piece.
- Whether the goods are stackable under the service requirements.
- Loading and unloading needs and relevant optional services.
- The contents and any special transport needs.
