First, you need to pack the contents. Well-packaged content will withstand transportation and the stresses it undergoes during handling. After packing, you enter the dimensions, weight, and postal code into our price calculator. For example you can send send parcel 1 kg. This will provide you with the shipping cost, allowing you to proceed quickly with completing the booking.

Pickup is part of the service

The shipping company collects the goods from the sender, usually within a short time, usually the same day or the day after. Shiplink's system selects the most suitable carrier based on the cargo's final destination. You don't need to be an experienced freight forwarder to gain expert knowledge - we take care of that for you. Make sure to have clear signage and a working bell for a smooth pick-up. It is also advantageous if the goods are easily accessible to the carrier.

Packaging is important

You want the recipient to receive the shipment without any unpleasant surprises, of course. Therefore, it's crucial to package it properly. The package undergoes stress from both sorting machines and individuals handling and loading all goods in trucks and containers. Be prepared to protect the contents. The more delicate the content, the more protection you need to ensure it has.

Prepare for the shipment

Sending domestically or within the EU is straightforward. However, when shipping to, for example, Norway or the USA, it's crucial to research the specific rules and regulations of the destination country. Checking everything beforehand is a good way to avoid delayed deliveries and unexpected costs.

Customs invoice, commercial invoice, and proforma

Countries that are not members of the European Union require a commercial invoice or proforma to approve the import or export of goods. Contact us for the best advice and guidance on customs invoices.

Apply for an EORI number

If you are sending to countries outside the EU, you also need to provide your unique registration number on the commercial invoice or proforma. This number is called an EORI number, and you can apply for it through Swedish customs authority. Although the application process is usually quick, it's advisable to do it well in advance before sending the freight.

Post box addresses are not allowed

A post box address cannot be delivered to by carriers; it must be a physical delivery address at the business location. Ensure that you provide the correct address for both the sender and the recipient. This is to avoid high additional costs caused by the extra work it creates for the carrier.

Permitted and prohibited goods

There are items that are prohibited to send, such as those that can harm the personnel handling the goods, for example, chemicals that can leak. Also, valuables, weapons, precious metals, and live animals are some of the several forbidden items that you cannot send. If you are unsure whether your item or product may be prohibited or harmful to someone, contact us, and we can provide an immediate response.
