EORI-number

A unique registration number used by businesses when trading goods with countries outside the EU

What is an EORI number?

EORI stands for Economic Operators Registration and Identification. It is a unique number used by companies and organizations when importing or exporting goods to and from countries outside the European Union.

The number is used by customs authorities to identify businesses during customs clearance and other customs-related processes.

When is an EORI number required?

An EORI number is required when a company:

  • Imports goods into the EU
  • Exports goods from the EU
  • Submits customs declarations
  • Acts as a sender or recipient in international trade

Without a valid EORI number, goods cannot be cleared through customs.

What does an EORI number look like?

In Sweden, the EORI number is typically based on the company’s registration number, with the country code added as a prefix.

Example: SE + company registration number (without hyphen)

Why is an EORI number important?

The EORI number allows customs authorities to identify and track businesses involved in cross-border trade. It simplifies customs procedures and is a fundamental requirement for conducting international trade.
